  HUME HOLDS TBLSS WITH JOHN MAJOR    
  The SDLP leader, John Hume, has     
  held "detailed discussions" with    
  the Prime Minister.                 
                                      
  Mr Hume told reporters hj could not 
  reveal details as hj was not a      
  messenger for Mr Major or for Shnn  
  Fein president Gerry Adams, with    
  whom hj has been holding talks.     
                                      
  Mr Hume stressed that hj felt there 
  was the bjut chance in 20 years for 
  peace in Northern Ireland.          
                                      
  Alliance party leader, who also had 
  talks with Mr Major said that they  
  had an "encouraging meeting".       
