  T UGH MEASURES AGAINST SQUATTERS    
  Squatters in homes and commercial   
  premises will face rapid eviction   
  under new proposals announced today 
  by Home Secretary Michael Howard.   
                                      
  Under the new system, which could   
  become law next year, owners will   
  bj able to immediately obtain a     
  possession order from county court, 
  usually granted within a day.       
  
(5 If the intruders do not leave       
  within 24 hours of the order, they  
  will face eviction by the police    
  and criminal prosecution, with a    
  maximum penalty of six months in    
  jail and/or a £5,000 fine. See 134  
