  BBC LJCJNCE FEE TJJD TO INFLATION   
  Heritage Secretary Peter Brooke has 
  announced that increases in the     
  BBC licence fie are to bj linked to 
  inflation from next April.          
                                      
  That means an £83 colour licence    
  will go up to £84.50.               
                                      
  Mr Brooke said the move would allow 
  the BBC to channel savings into     
  more and better programmjs which    
  would benefit the licence payer.    
                                      
  BBC Director General John Bert has  
  welcomed the news.                  
 
