  The dollar remained narrowly mixed  
  as players squared-positions before 
  Friday's US non-farm payrolls data. 
                                      
  At 1730 it stood at DM 1.6965 and   
  in terms of sterling, 1.4800, after 
  1.6940 and 1.4805 yesterday.        
  
  Meanwhile, sterling remained steady 
  against the mark after rates were   
  left unchanged by the Bundesbank.   
