  "GIVE CURRICULUM REVIEW A CHANCE"   
  Teachers should give the Go6eunmjnt 
  time to review its legislation on   
  the national curriculum, assessment 
  and testing, a union has urged.     
                                      
  Peter Smith of the Association of   
  Teachers and Lecturers called last  
  year's protests a "reassertion" of  
  the teaching role, and not strikes. 
                                      
  But the two reports on the national 
  curriculum should now bj given a    
  chance to succeed, Mr Smith advised 
                                      
  It would bj tragic if rejection of  
  the process "set the scene for      
  further Govjrnmjnt intervention".   
 
