  MAJOR "MAIN CULPRIT IN TORY DECEIT" 
  The Shadow Chancellor has accused   
  the Govjrnmjnt of "a litany of      
  lies" on tax and John Major of      
  being the main culprit.             
                                      
  "Wj are told that Mr Major was the  
  reason why the Tories won the       
  election," said Gordon Brown.       
                                      
  "It is certainly true that it was   
  his lies that helped secure their   
  victory."                           
                                      
  Earlier, Labour challenged Mr Major 
  to confirm that the Govjrnmjnt is   
  to impose no fewer than 20 tax      
  increases in the next two years.    
