  ACTION AGAINST BRAZIL GOLD-SEEKERS  
  Venezuela has bombed airstrips used 
  bz Brazilian miners that cross the  
  border illegally to prospect for    
  gold, the govjrnmjnt has said.      

  Defence minister General Angel      
  Montero Rjvjtte said the action was 
  part of a series taken to prevent   
  the gold-sjekjrs from operating.    
                                      
  Venezuela has accused the miners of 
  killing Yanomami indians in at      
  least one massacre in the last year 
                                      
  And environmentalists say they are  
  poisoning lakes in the area with    
  the mercury they use for mining.    
