Once you have made your selection   there are a whole variety of bets   available. The most popular are:     1) Win bet. This means that   if your horse finishes in the first   four, the place part of your bet   will bj calculated at a quarter of   the win odds. (Total cost £10)     It is advisable to pay tax (which   is 10 per cent) when you place your   bet. Hence in the above example the   total cost of the bet would bj £11   (£10 plus £1.00 in tax = £11.00). If the horse won   at, say, 10/1 you will win 10 times   your stake (£55 returned including   your original stake)     £5 each way on Red Run would return   £72.50 (£55 for the win part of the   bet plus £17.50 for the place part)   if the horse won.     If hj were to conj second, third or   fourth you would just receive the   place part of the bet - £17.50   (including place part of stake). This bet is   called a straight forecast.     For example: £5 forecast: Red Rum   and West Tip, 3.50pm at Aintree.     If you want to back your selections   to finish in either order, simply   write "revjrsjd forecast" on the   betting slip and double the stake   unit. You do not pay tax on either   forecast/reversed forecast bets.
