  BC WJTHDRBWS PIT CLOSURE PLAN       
  British Coal says it has withdrawn  
  plans to close Tower Colliery, its  
  last working pit in South Wales.    
                                      
  Normal operations will bj resumed   
  immediately, including dj6elopmjnt  
  work which stopped on 7 April, the  
  company added.                      
                                      
  BC said it plans to continue coal   
  production for the rest of the year 
  before offering the colliery for    
  sale under privatisation plans.     
                                      
  Earlier, miners at the colliery     
  decided to reject redundancy        
