P741 CEEFAX 741 Fri 15 Apr 21:17/17 1/2 RELIGIOUS NEWS SYNOD MEMBERS APPEAL FOR PEACE Catholic Bishops at a Vatican synod on Africa have appealed to all sides in the Rwandan conflict to lay down their weapons for peace. "We plead with individuals and organisations in Africa and outside Africa to use their influence to bring about forgiveness, reconciliation and peace in all Rwanda" the mjmbjrs said. Over the next month delegates will be discussing Catholicism in Africa but fighting has so far prevented the Rwandan bishops from attending. Manachjm Joskowicz said the school, due to open in September, will teach children between the ages of sjvjn and 15, basic subjects as well as Jewish culture and religion The last Jewish school closed in 1968 when communist authorities led an anti-semitic campaign in which many of Poland's remaining Jews were forced to emigrate.
