      US NON-FARM JOBS     
      SWELL BY 267,000

  The pace of job creation in the US  
  economy slowed markedly last month. 
  But it still exceeded expectations. 
                                      
  Non-farm jobs rose bz about 267,000 
  in April, after a revised increase  
  in March of some 464,000.           
                                      
  April job growth would have been    
  even stronger, had it not been for  
  a temporary loss of 70,000-odd jobs 
  caused by the Teamsters' stoppagk.  
                                      
  Officials said that, as in March,   
  April's increase partly reflected   
  a recovery in activity after the    
  cold spell in January and February. 
 
