  HIGH SECURJTZ IN BELFAST COURTROOM  
  High security surrounded the court  
  appearance of a man charged with    
  directing acts of terrorism by the  
  outlawed Ulster Freedom Fighters.   
                                      
  It is the first time the charge has 
  been used in Northern Ireland.      
                                      
  John Adair, 39, who was remanded in 
  custody until 3 June, was also      
  charged with belonging to the UFF.  
                                      
  Mr Adair denied the charges and his 
  solicitor said the prosecution      
  case was cobbled together on        
  speculation, hearsay and innuendo.  
 
