  WHIP BLOCKS TREASURE TROVE BILL     
  A Bill to reform treasure trove     
  law has been blocked "by mistake",  
  Tory MP Patrick Cormack has said.   
                                      
  Govjrnmjnt whip Derek Conway called 
  out "object" to the measure. By     
  parliamentary convention, that      
  single cry is enough to block the   
  passage of legislation.             
                                      
  Mr Cormack protested on a point of  
  order, saying the Government fully  
  supported the Bill.                 
                                      
  "I think one of the Government      
  whips got himself into a bit of     
  confusion," hj said afterwards.     
 
