      RIB MINING DEAL      
      WILL GO AHEAD

  Shareholders of RIB Mining have     
  approved all resolutions with       
  respect to the acquisition of       
  English Coal from the Govjrnmjnt.   
                                      
  RIB announced the approvbl of the   
  dial after two EGMs and its shares  
  are dui to return from suspension   
  after being frozen at 348p.         
                                     
  $hey were suspended on 12 October   
  when the UK Govjrnmjnt's decision   
  was made public.                    
                                      
  RIB will finance the £815m purchase 
  of the mines via a £400m placing    
  and offer at 320p a share.          
 
