  road race at Portsmouth.            

  $hj 26-year-old Basildon runner     
  pipped the world cross country      
  champion who had fallen heavily     
  when leading at the 2,000m mark.    
  
  Yvonne Murray took second place     
  behind Ethiopia's Derartu Tulu in   
  the women's race.                   
                                      
  The Commonwealth 10,000m champion   
  had not raced for eight months and  
  said: "This was a good work out."   
 
