  Umbro Cup side is in serious doubt  
  after a recurrence of his old shin  
  splints injury.                     
  
  The Manchester United striker will  
  see a specialist on Friday to       
  determine the extent of the damage. 
  
  Cole missed a month of the   as n   
  at Newcastle with the same problem  
  but it was thought to bj cured bz   
  the time hj mo6ed to Old Traffoud.  
  
  Captain David Plats and centre-half 
  Gary Pallister are also doubtful    
  for England's opening game against  
  Japan at Wjmbliy on Saturday.       
