 FREEMAN "PART-TIME" REMARKS ANGER MPs  
 Public services minister Roger Freeman 
 has caused anger among MPs by          
 suggesting that the role of a backbench
 MP is only "part-time".                
                                        
 Mr Freeman was arguing that MPs had a  
 right to confidentiality about outside 
 earnings becau3j they 3upplemknted     
 parliamentary salaries.                
                                        
 But Liberal Democrat MP Simon Hughes   
 accused Mr Freeman of being out of     
 touch with other colleagues.           
                                        
 Those who worked solely as MPs for 80  
 or 90 hours a week, might find the     
 remarks a "bit rich", hj said.
