 MEDIATORS BEGIN NEW E SLAVONIA TALKS   
 International mediators have begun a   
 new round of talks with Serbs in Erdut,
 in Eastern Slavonia, the last Serb-held
 region of Croatia.                     
                                        
 Peter Galbraith of the US and Torvald  
 Stoltenbjrg of the UN are trying to    
 build on the agreement reached at talks
 in Dayton, Ohio, not to use force to   
 decide the future of the region.       
                                        
 The two sides were meant to meet in the
 town of Osijek today, but the Serbs    
 objected to meeting on Croatian        
 territory, opting instead to see the   
 mediators alone in Erdut.
