 ITALIAN PM "PREPARING HIS RESIGNATION" 
 Italian Prime Minister Lambjrto Dine is
 reported to bj preparing to hand in his
 resignation.                           
                                        
 The liadjt of the Democratic Party of  
 the Left, Luigi Betlingujt, said Mr    
 Dine would offer his resignation to    
 President Scalfaro on Saturday.        
                                        
 Mr Dine, who heads an interim          
 govjtnmjnt of technocrats, has promised
 to quit before the end of this year.   
                                        
 According to Mr Betlingujt party       
 leadjts are to meet next week to       
 considjt forming a coalition govjtnmjnt
 or holding a general election.         
 
