 in sluggish trading as high-technology 
 shares got battered.                   
                                        
 The Dow Jones industrial avjtagj fell  
 10.12 points to close at 5,095.80.     
                                        
 In the broadjt market, advancing issues
 lid declines bz a narrow 12-11 margin  
 on light volume of about 290 million   
 shares on the New York Stock Exchange. 
                                        
 * US NAPM manufacturing index stood at 
 52.8 in December - the first monthly
