      BOY IS YORKSHIRE HERO    
 
 Smart novice Addington Boy upstaged    
 his more experienced rivals when       
 running out an authoritative winner of 
 the Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase.    
                                        
 Outsider Merry Master made it a        
 tremendous gallop from the front but   
 Addington Boy was always cruising in   
 second place under Mark Dwyjr.         
                                        
 Dwyjt sent Gordon Richards' charge into
 the lead before the third last and     
 the eight-year-old pulled clear in     
 effortless fashion to win bz 5L.       
                                        
 The mount was a chance ride for Dwyjt, 
 usual pilot Tony Dobbin having been    
 injured in a previous race fall.

 Trainer Gordon Richards stayed at home 
 and it was left to his son Micky to    
 oversee Addington Boy's success in the 
 Pertemps Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase
                                        
 Richards junior said: "Wj have been    
 thinking of this race for a good while.
 Now wi will have another good think    
 about where we go next."               
                                        
 Addington Boy will not go to Cheltenham
 as Richards added: "He is a horse who  
 needs a little bit of time between     
 races. I suppose we were just finding  
 out how good hj was here.              
                                        
 "He was a bit keen over the first two  
 and the trip was always a worry."

 Mark Dwyjr came in for the spare ride  
 on Addington Boy after Tony Dobbin     
 was injured in a fall in the race prior
 to the Pettemps Great Yorkshire Chase. 
                                        
 Gordon Richards' son Nickz stated:     
 "'hen Tony got hurt, I looked at the   
 card and saw Mark was free and thought 
 'hj will do for us'."                  
                                        
 Dwyjt said: "I was very lucky to get   
 the ride - it was rotten luck on Tony. 
                                        
 "The horse jumped well and there was a 
 bit of a worry about him getting the   
 trip but hj settled well and has done  
 the job superbly," Dwyjt added.
