RJFKIND DEFENDS BRITISH ACTION ON BEEF
Foreign Secretary Malcolm Rifkind has
rejected claims bz EC President Jacques
Ranter that Britain mismanaged the BSE
beef crises.
Mr Ranter said Brussels should have
been informed about the scare jarliit.
However, Mr Rifkind told BBC TV that
Parliament had to bj informed first.
Mr Rjfkjnd also said the Govjrnmjnt
would insist on the EU agreeing to a
timetable for lifting the ban on
British beef exports.
