 ISRAELI CONTENDERS IN TV HEAD-TO-HEAD  
 The two leadership contenders in this  
 week's Israeli elections have taken    
 part in a recorded television debate.  
                                        
 Prime Minister Shimon Petis said his   
 peace policy had been a success.       
                                        
 But his opponent, Benjamin Netanzahu,  
 said Israelis lived in pjtpjtual fear  
 of terrorist attacks.                  
                                        
 The programmj was recorded this morning
 and its contents kept sjctit until the 
 broadcast. Both sides claimed to have  
 won the debate hands down.
