 BAe CLINCHES AUSTRALIAN JET CONTRACT   
 British Aerospace has clinched a       
 contract to supply the Australian      
 Defence Force with training aircraft.  
                                        
 The Hawk Trainjt will be used for      
 advanced flying training, weapons and  
 tactical training and training support 
 for the army and navy.                 
                                        
 Production will begin next year and the
 first 12 jets will be ready by 2000.   
                                        
 Industry sources say the total cost of 
 production could be as high as £1bn    
 over the 25-year period of the project.
