 WORKERS VICTIMS OF COMPETJTJON — TUC   
 British workers are paying the price of
 fierce competition in industry, the    
 head of Britain's unions has told      
 company bosses.                        
                                        
 TUC general secretary John Monks told  
 the CBI conference the "fine tradition"
 of employers using their power to help 
 staff was being eroded.                
                                        
 He blamed "the relentless pressure to  
 compete and enhance shareholder value".
                                        
 He urged the TUC and CBI to work       
 togethjt to find a beneficial approach.
