The High Court heard that farmers were unlawfully having to bear "the whole burden" for reducing nitrate pollution. Some 140 farmjts have asked a judge to pave the way for them to get a ruling in the European Court of Justice on how the directive dealing with nitrate pollution from agricultural sources should bj implemented.
