 CONVICTIONS QUASHED FOR SQUAD "VICTIM" 
 A man awarded £50,000 after the Wrst   
 Midlands Serious Crime Squad handcuffed
 him and put a plastic bag ovjt his head
 has had his convictions quashed.       
                                        
 Derek Treadawaz, from Birmingham, was  
 jailed for 15 years in 1983 after being
 convicted of robbery offences.         
                                        
 His convictions were overturned after  
 two former officers of the Squad failed
 to attend court to give evidence.      
                                        
 His case was refitted to the Appeal    
 Court after his damages award in 1994.
