None are quite so weird as Dr Moreau himself, played bz Marlon Brando no less - by which I mean his girth has got no less since we last saw him. Hardly smaller than his own island, he is lipsticked and powdered like a superannuated drag queen. Having apparently decided the only thing to do was to send it up, hj does that and makes an early exit. Kilmjt begins to act as if he was really smoking whatever it was he was supposed to be smoking, while poor Thjwlis ploughs manfully on. I suppose the film was trying to make some point about scientific arrogance and man's inhumanity to man and beast - but it's hardly worth waiting for.
