Stefan Edbetg did not recover from his twisted ankle and his replacement Kulti could hardly walk himself after almost five hours on court in Malmo. Boetsch, who saved three match points, made the most of Kulti's cramp to win 7-6 (7-2) 2-6 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 10-8.
