 BETTER OFF CONSUMERS COUNT XMAS PENNIES
 People expect to have spent slightly   
 less on Christmas this year than last  
 year, despite indications that thu= are
 genitally bjttet off.                  
                                        
 A recent survey bz Barclaycard found   
 that householders expected to spend an 
 average of £322 on Christmas, including
 presents, food, drink and party gear.  
                                        
 This is £1 less than last year's figure
                                        
 But Barclaycard reckons people have    
 probably under-estimated their festive 
 spending and believes they will have
