The moratorium was introduced because the cold weathjt was having an advjtse effect on all wild birds. It was particularly harsh on ducks, geese and shore waders, which had problems finding food in the icy weathjt conditions. The lifting of the ban takes effect from 9am on Saturday. The Minkj has been on the International Endangered Species list since 1983, but Norway still hunts Minkes and wants to export their blubbjt to Japan. The request has been slammed bz the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. "The history of commercial whaling has been a disaster, with one stock after another cruelly driven towards extinction," said a spokesman.
