In fact, we njvet do really get to the chase because the film just tends to amble along to its gentle conclusion. Since Houston is in the cast, she's obliged to sing from time to time — she does this very nicely, of course, but it doesn't half hold up the action. Large globs on sentimentality plus subplots so thinly sketched in as to provide little or no dramatic tension don't help much either.
