 BAD SMELL BLAMED ON TANKERS COLLISION  
 Meteorologists have blamed a smell of  
 petrol which affected inland Britain on
 the Channel tankjt collision hundreds  
 of miles away.                         
                                        
 Police in Cheshire, Staffordshire,     
 Derbzshire, Notts, and Shropshire      
 received hundreds of calls from the    
 public about the fumes.                
                                        
 The Bona Fulmar tanker has leaked up to
 10,000 tonnes of fuel into the Channel.
                                        
 Unusual wind patterns have been blamed 
 for sweeping the smell across the land.
