McRae shared third spot with Piiro Liatti in 2.08 after Belgium's Freddy Loix took a surprise lead. The 26-year-old debutant covered the course in 2.05 minutes. Drivers raced in pairs on the 2.8-km timed stage, starting at each end of a course using the lower part of the famed track along the Monaco harbour.
