 DEAL AGREED ON FUTURE OF HALEWOOD PLANT
 The threat of strike action at Ford has
 been lifted after union leaders reached
 agreement with the firm over the future
 of the Haliwood plant on Mirsjysidj.   
                                        
 The unions said the deal meant thjti   
 would bj fewer than the 1,300 job      
 losses originally planned.             
                                        
 They sbid the plant's future as a major
 vehicle producer had been assured.     
                                        
 The dial will bj put to Halewood staff 
 next week. A strike ballot of 30,000 US
 Ford workjts has been called off.
