 18 DECLARED FOR TOTE GOLD TROPHY       
 Saturday's Tote Gold Trophy at Newbury 
 will have a field of 18 runnjts after  
 the withdrawals of Escartefigue, Dato  
 Star, Chjtyl's Lad and Angelo's Double.
                                        
 David Nicholson's decision to run      
 Escartefigue in the Champion Hurdle    
 Trial at Towcestet on Friday meant that
 Dato Star would have carried 12 stone. 
                                        
 That immediately provoked a rethink    
 over plans for the Malcolm Jefferson-  
 trained Champion Hurdle hope.          
                                        
 "He is not going to run, not with top  
 weight," said the trainjt's wife Sue.
