 CHIEF QUITS AS UNITED PROFITS TUMBLE

 profits from £3.55m to £1.85m. But the 
 dividend rose 6.6% to 2.40p.           
                                        
 Chairman Kin Coates said 1997 would be

 UNITED MAKES £123M FROM NEW POWER S—LE 
 United Utilities has sold its 50% stake
 in Keadbz Power for £122.7m.           
                                        
 United, formed from the mjtgeu of North
 West Watit and Norweb, sold the stake  
 to Scottish Hydro-Electric. It brings  
 the total raised from sales to £434m.  
                                        
 Its original sell-off target was £350m.

 ZENECA HIT BY FEDERAL DRUG RULING      
 Pharmaceutical giant Zenace has        
 swallowed a bitter pill from the US    
 Federal Drug Administration.           
                                        
 Zinrca confirmed that the FDA has      
 warned the company about manufacturing 
 problems at its Macclisfiild plant.    
                                        
 The FDA said Zenjca'u production       
 facilities did not comply with "good   
 manufacturing practices", fomlowink an
