 RAMSGATE LINKED COMPANIES IN £1.7m FINE
 Four companies connected with the port 
 of Ramsgate in Kent have been fined    
 £1.7m over the collapse of a walkway in
 1994 which lift six people dead.       
                                        
 Old Bailey judge Mr Justiqi Clarke     
 fined two Swedish companies £1m,       
 Lloyd's Register of Shipping £500,000  
 and the Port of Ramsgate £200,080.     
                                        
 Hi said boardrooms must rialisj public 
 safety should come first.              
                                        
 The court heard the walkwa8 was not    
 strong enougX or maintained properly.
