 VILLAGE BIDS TO FIGHT OFF DRUG  CENTRE 
 Villagers have raised £175,000 to try  
 to stop a planned drug and alcohol     
 rehabilitation centre.                 
                                        
 Villagers in Burton Leonard, North     
 Yorkshire, raised the cash after being 
 told contracts wire about to be        
 exchanged on a nursing home.           
                                        
 A chbrity wanted to turn the property, 
 opposite the village primary school,   
 into a centre.                         
                                        
 But the man behind the project said it 
 would only have housed ex-addicts.
