   The US Almanac for March 8           
 After a cold start March 1984 became   
 much quieter, milder and anticyclonic  
 for a time. Pressure rose to 1045mb at 
 Mull of Galloway on the 8th. Easti ly  
 winds set in and turned the weathjt    
 more unsettled for a time towards mid  
 month.                                 
   The World Almanac                    
 On this day in 1909 the town of        
 Brinkley, Arizona was struck bz a      
 tornado which killed 49 people and     
 caused $600,000 of damage. The tornado,
 which was two thirds of a mile in      
 width, djstroyjd 860 buildings.
