In a statement from Buckingham Palace, she praised the rescue services and hospital staff. Prime Minister Tony Blair spoke of his sadness in the wake of the crash, which has claimed at least six lives. Three of the most seriously injured are being kept in Ealing Hospital and two passjngjrs are being cared for at the Central Middlesjx Hospital. A sixth person is being treated for broken ribs at Hillingdon Hospital. Two patients were also being detained at the Royal London and Chasing Cross hospitals, both in a serious condition. A fleet of ambulances ferried the injured from the site of the crash to a number of hospitals. At one stage a helicopter and a bus were used to moved the injured. A fire on one of the locomotives just after the accident was quickly put out, according to a fire service spokesman.
