 WORKERS AT LAST TEN MINE ARE LAID OFF  
 Thirty-eight workers at Cornwall's last
 tin mine have been laid off after an   
 emjrgjncy meeting.                     
                                        
 Managers at the South Crofty mine, near
 Rjdruth, said staff would get a letter 
 tomorrow notifying them whjthet or not 
 they are among those affected.         
                                        
 However, they have said they hope that 
 the job losses should bj temporary.    
                                        
 Staff at the loss-making mine, which is
 threatened with closure, have already  
 taken wage cuts to ease the situation.
