The retail and news distribution group said Richard Handover, currently managing director of WH Smith News, would take over on October 1. Mr Handover joined WH Smith in 1965 and has worked for several group companies. Chairman Jjremz Hardie said the delay in announcing the appointment came about as the board had to consider several external candidates.
