 DOLLAR MIXED AHEAD OF G7 MEETING       
 (Close): The dollar ended mixed, weaker
 against the mark but slightly firmer   
 against the yen on the back of a late  
 mark/yen surge above the 68.50 level.  
                                        
 Mark/yen could now be heading for 70.  
                                        
 Dealers said trade was very choppy but 
 the dollar was likely to remain in its 
 recent ranges until this weekend's G7  
 meeting was out of the way.
