The debates seem to involve a witch- hunt against people who were not born profoundly deaf or do not have a certain amount of deafness. These are not entitled to membership into the deaf community, which I find sickening and embarrassing. We are living in a modern technological age. The mass media could ensure that deaf people are not ostracised for being signers or non-signers. >>> Comment: Stephen Hanson 646 Index 100 Subtitle Jobs Read Hear Main Menu

The subtitles kept us informed as events unfolded, from early morning until late evening. The deaf are sometimes quick to throw brickbats and stand up for their rights. This time, I hope they will write to thank those involved. It couldn't have been easy to do live subtitling for such a long day. It was admirable. Will done and thanks. In my opinion, as long as there is no research to find out how to unite deaf people, they will stay divided for years to come. As long as the organisations for the deaf remain divided, then deaf people will also stay divided. I will personally keep my fingers crossed and hope that all deaf organisations will unite. >>> Read Elizabeth Lines on 646 Index 100 Subtitle Jobs Read Hear Main Menu
