 SHOT MISSES MELBOURNE DATE             
 Ian Balding has ruled Grey Shot out of 
 a second crack at the Melbourne Cup -  
 for this season at least.              
                                        
 The trainer said: "I have discussed it 
 with the owner and he doesn't run.     
                                        
 "He hasn't been the same horse this    
 season and it could just have been the 
 long and arduous journey to Australia  
 last year that has hit him.            
                                        
 "However I wouldn't discourage anyone  
 from going for the race. I would       
 certainly love to go back again,       
 possibly with Grey Shot."
