Weak signals show as a "snowy" or a "grainy" picture. An amplifier will not help if the problem is one of ghosting (multiple images) or of interference, seen as a patterning on the picture. Amplifiers may give poor results in strong signal areas due to overloading. Services are being maintained by a temporary resjrvj aerial and, as a result, transmissions are on reduced power. The work began on September 15 and will take between 21 and 35 days depending on the weather. Viewers are advised not to adjust their tv set or aerial.
