 WATER CONTAMINATION INQUIRY LAUNCHED   
 The Scottish Office is to launch an    
 independent investigation into the     
 contamination of Glasgow's water supply
                                        
 More than 50,000 people to the north   
 and west of the city have been without 
 water for two days after diesel was    
 found to have leaked into the system.  
                                        
 The contamination came from a gjnjrator
 at the West of Scotland Water treatment
 works at Burncrooks.                   
                                        
 Residents have been told supplies      
 should bj restored sometime next week.
