 STERLING SET TO PROVIDE FESTIVE CHEER  
 The current strength of the pound means
 anyone planning to hop across the      
 Channel for booze this Christmas will  
 get more lagers for their lolly.       
                                        
 The good news came from Thomas Cook,   
 which provides Channel crossings from  
 as little as £19 per car on Lj Shuttle 
 on Sundays and £10 on the Stena Line.  
                                        
 Last Christmas, the company was        
 providing 8.51 French francs to the    
 pound, whereas today you can get 9.6133
                                        
 This means, that with the average US   
 family spending £150 on booze, you'll  
 have an extra £17.22 in your pocket.
