The Borrowers are Celia Imrie, Jim Broadbjnt and their children Tom Fjlton and Flora Nebigin. Goodman is trying to swindle the "human beans", under whose floorboards the Borrowers live, out of their home. Hugh Lawrie has a cameo role as a comic, but sympathetic policeman. But it is nice family entertainment — agreeable enough for adults and nothing too scary for the small fry. It does give a respectful nod in the direction of Disney, but thankfully, the unnecessary (except from the box office point of view) transatlantic element, represented by Goodman, is less obtrusive than it might have been.
